I heard about the supposed new emissions tests from a mate that owns a mech workshop, he's not the sort of guy to make stuff up, but i started with "Apparently" as i have not seen anything in writing with my own eyes :sofa:

I would perhaps suggest you bring the subject up with your engineer (you have been talking to one along the way i hope ?) incase you need to be aware of any up coming changes in regulations with regard to this subject ?

And bout time you posted some more pic's i think ? :D

MT

Ok, thank you for that MT, as for the Engineer thing, I'll let that thing sort itself out when the time comes! Nah, just kidding, I've been receiving some advice on bits to look out for before I present my project when the time comes.

About the pics...er... I probably wont have anymore until the crate arrives here, then the plan will be to dummy fit the whole thing, before stripping the car and sending it off to be restored.
I'm dummy fitting it for two reasons,

1. To make sure everything is as it should be and

2. So that I know what I'm doing when the shell is completed and in pristine order. :D

So....... how did they get around the security system?

Glad you got it going. Like the rest of us asking How?

Quote, " the extra info was only for the pim module to communicate with the engine computer and bcm " There you have it boys, that bloody PIM! :gun:

Exhaust system is - headers 1-5/8'' primaries with 2.5'' hi-flow cat and 2.5'' pipe including tailpipe

Howdy fellas, sorry to keep some you in suspense haha, but remember, it is a 'retirement project' I've been away due to work reasons and a majority of it was overseas. The only thing I can update you guys on is I've bought the bluewire motor sport keyless start and entry and got myself some of their head lights as well.

I was going to get the car painted when I got back but my priorites had to change, I've gone through a break up and things aren't quite settled and I'm still in a bit of a pickle, its hard to explain and it really isnt for here to speak of. Not to worry, nothing involving the law or anything. I had some really grand plans for the car when I got back, but its all fallen apart which was quite frustrating. So i've just put it on the back burner for now until i can get back on my feet.

This years work is still hectic and I'm quite over it. I'm planning on taking an extended period off what I do, and go look for work else where.

Because I'm only a renter, there's not much I can do in regards to working on my car, however, with a bit of luck, if I dont have to go overseas again next year, things should be relatively quiet and I'll be taking advantage of a new 2 poster and be putting in some time for the old girl.

I'm sorry to dissapoint some of those that are following this thread, I just wish I had some better news.

Fascinating read, would be nice to know if it has progressed.

G'day all, I regret to inform you that sadly and most reluctantly this project is now retired. Two relationships down the drain, 4 kids to pay CSA for, life has been tough on me for a reason.

The car will be for sale shortly I'm still grieving that I actually have to do this.

I was going to put this on ebay, however when I read the posts about dogey cars for sale there I realised I need to sell it here.

Originality is one of the biggest things to prove when advertising and I need to explain why I removed my tags.

The photos of the car were taken when I lived in Darwin, and when I moved to Brisbane, it was transported down by a trucking company.

In fear of having the id tags removed by someone else, I removed them myself.

I am just thankful that this thread shows the pictures of the id tags when they were still fitted to the car. I haven't put them back on.

I just hope I can find a buyer that will do, what I couldn't do and get the old girl back up and running.

Thank you for your interest.

Just read the whole thread and I too am sorry to hear that we won't get to see the old Tigress hit the streets with a renewed lease on life, but I know these things happen... been there... done that!

This is hardly relevant now I guess but a lot of work has been done on mapping GMLAN components since your ECU/BCM/PIM problems and there are now a few people around who can re-code the various components with nothing more than a modified OBDII interface and a laptop, just takes a little brute-force to get around the security measures but it is doable.

The V8 LS engine ECU will at least allow the motor to crank and fire briefly but if they don't get an appropriate response from the security system they'll shut down again almost straight away. In the US it's a simple matter of getting the ECU reflashed but maybe a different story over this side of the pond?

The amount of electronics in cars of today is ridiculous, and unfortunately, as you already found out Brewster, it started getting a lot more complicated in VZ Commodores with various modules all being keyed into the vehicles VIN, even stereo systems. Nowadays a blinker switch isn't wired to the blinkers, it just broadcasts over the GMLAN that somebody moved the stalk and the BCM says "Okay then I'll turn the appropriate relay on and off so many times a second and play a simulated 'tick-tock' sound from a speaker"!

There's a fair bit of info on all this over on the carmodder forums if anyone's interested.
