RIP....

Pulled the intake off this morning to swap it with the bigger one, it's developed a hole in no6 intake port, it wasn't there a week ago.

Looks like we're back to square one.

Spewin Kev, what a pisser.

Dont you have an old 9 port hanging around that you pulled off this engine earlier?

But im guessing there's no point going backwards hey!

Onwards & upwards mate, make it alloy & make it awesome :buttrock:

The old 9 port expired awhile ago, I moved it over a stupid amount and the head studs were pissing out.
Retorqued the head 6 times chasing leaks and it broke the casting, lesson learnt.
The other 9 port engine with the roller cam is still together but the block is worn out after 20 years of use.

It definitely cannot be welded so going to try some Belzona 1111 epoxy, which looks to be the ducks nuts for this sorta stuff.

Haven't used this stuff, but looks like a similar product to Devcon.

I sent the head out to get welded, the magician's put it in a furnace and welded it with an oxy and some sort of cast iron welding rod ! It pressure test's fine and has been crack tested and we are all good !!!!!!

They seem to have done a really good job, there's only .004-.005 warp end to end  :dontknow:

It's being machined at the moment but hopefully i'll have it running next weekend.

I'm upping the spring pressure too as i believe that my misfire is valve float, bumping it up to 165lb's @ seat and 385 open

That's amazing that was able to be done. ... Is the above in WA able to perform surgery like that? haven't got a damaged head yet fingers crossed but interesting if my cracked block can be saved in same manner!

I wouldn't try doing a block, it would distort way too much.
Would need a line bore too so much cheaper to just prepare a new block.
Maybe try pinning/crack repair plugs??

Picked the head up from the machine shop and valve springs will be here Monday

Only had it in a 10" bench, I'll stick a sheet up when I get home.
I went some like 126 cfm at .500.

So that should be 210cfm @ 28", if I'm working it out correctly.

Comp xtq 6267 on the intake
Xtx 6420 on the exhaust
107 separation
105 centerline

The same combo is going back together

How did you go with piston to valve clearance?

No problems with piston to valve clearance, plenty of issues with valve to block clearance though.

Thats good to know cheers, are you still running stock blue rods with bolts and castys? 8000rpm? when that first conrod failed did it look like it had picked up and then chucked it or just rod bolt fatigue? just trying to work out whether I should go to the trouble of putting 1 and 7 main external lines lol. It also looks like your running single springs?  sorry for the 21 questions lol. Cheers

That's fine I need to write out a list of engine spec's anyway's.
The rod blowup, was actually piston failure, the piston separated around the wrist pin.
They were old repco repower piston's, the whole engine was pieces together with shit we had in the shed.

Valve springs were pac beehive's, 1211x had 140lbs closed & 370 open but was nowhere near enough.
Has 165lb closed & 402 open now, so see how we go.

This donk has blue motor rods and JE forgie's.
I've spun blue rods & acl duralites to 8200 but I think that's pushing the friendship.
Both with ARP bolt's fitted.

No need for the external line's, I do a lot if internal oiling mod's but.
Ext pickup is a must, -10 or -12 hose

Plenty of oil in the sump ALL the time & not in the rocker cover too.
