I've got a chassis dunno booked in for Saturday next week, try to sort out the high rpm misfire and also lean it off a bit.
Scored a lend of a proper 12 port weber manifold so I'll do a back to back test against the 9 port warneford on there now.

Nah it's actually a different dyno, my mate who owns the one I normally used had a 44 gal methanol drum explode in front of him, he's in a coma but is recovering well.
I've got some bigger air correctors, it's too rick top end, at 7000 rpm it's at nearly 11:1 air/fuel, carbs are too small.
I've ordered the assassin bar's so when I get it sorted I'll take it to that black sticky thing and try again.
It only wanted 27 degrees advance on the dyno too, I feel like it may want more at the track, more fiddling

Ah webbers, so many foreign names for parts that other carbs can do with a spring some oil and a stick....

I am all for SU's on a 9 port but these webers are doing pretty well for themselves, I hope to make some new ram tubes 4 1/2 ish inch long and try pick up the 2nd wave harmonic

I think your probably right, Kev, the SU probably hides some of the 9 ports problems at lower RPM, and having a single feed into a singe port would matter few frOcks, but Webbers or some other ITB setup would work best on a 12 hole head.....Probably....

Cheers.

Ha Ha! Do i smell someone swaying over to the dark side???

I  have seen a 192ci with triple Webers vs a 500 Holley on a 208ci Race over a quarter mile with NOS, and the Webers only just won.

And the Holley is a Dark side too.

Edit:-

Good on the Webers, SU's and Holley's,

 was just saying

Alright this has got me f%*$ed, it will miss/stutter even free revving.

I've swap Ignition box, coil, distributor, cap and lead's with known working ones and its still the same.
i would think it would still free rev, even if it was too rich.

Anyway's, the before and after manifolds.
1/2 sq in difference in csa in each port
photo23_zps191f861e.jpg

and then out came a chunk of the firewall, the old manifold is a kicked warneford meant to fit an EH.

photo12_zps350bc824.jpg

I'm happy with the engine, not a trace of reversion in the intake.

photo3_zpsdeec552b.jpg

Ive bought some 135 main jets and 210 air correctors to try on the dyno, but i've tinkered with 2 other 12 port engines that had weber's with 40mm chokes and they were both fine with 155 mains and 185 air corrector's so I can't see why this is so different??

Didn't mention plugs in there?

Could it be a hairline crack in a plug?

Swapped the plugs as well....

RIP....

Pulled the intake off this morning to swap it with the bigger one, it's developed a hole in no6 intake port, it wasn't there a week ago.

Looks like we're back to square one.

Hi Kevin,

Sorry to hear.  Chin up though.  As a prominent engine builder told me once when something had gone pretty wrong -> you have to crack a few eggs to make an omelette.

Cheers.

I just hit the head with the die grinder, looks like a casting flaw.
It's .040-.050 thick around the hole!!!!!

Thanks Ned, unsure what direction I'm going in now though.
