If you're going to start a thread about spelling then you really should get your own spelling correct :
NOMENCLATURE
I thought you must of (LOL) meant it too..... it was the first thing I noticed about the thread.

Coupe or Coup (I say coupe, cos Coup sounds gay!)
Hi all
Speaking of which; why do people insist on calling 2 door LC and LJs "coupes"?
Cheers

Because one definition of Coupe is : closed 2 door car.
Although Coupe itself is derived from a french word meaning shortened. Therefore to be a coupe the car must be a shorter 2 door version of a 4 door.
So you are correct - the LC/LJ 2 door is not technically a coupe.

How many people say/write DAMPENING - I have even seen it in adverts for suspensions and magazine articles !!!
For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about :
DAMPENING means making wet
DAMPING means reducing oscillation.

err...yeah...thats it..I meant it..really I did!
No...I typed it into google to check the spelling...and the first hit was someone with the same spelling as mine...research error.
Wiki says "The Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) distinguishes a coup from a sedan (saloon) primarily by interior volume; SAE standard J1100 defines a coup as a fixed-roof automobile with less than 33 cubic feet (0.93 cubic meters) of rear interior volume. A car with a greater interior volume is technically a two-door sedan, not a coup, even if it has only two doors."

Are you sure that's correct? Sounds like you're talking about a pommy Ford to me. If I don't know how something is pronounced, I just look it up on dictionary.com and click on the little speaker icon. It doesn't have an entry for a word pronounced like that.Capree?
lol do you actually call LC/LJ 2-doors "two door sedans"?Speaking of which; why do people insist on calling 2 door LC and LJs "coupes"?
"Hatch" and "Coupe" are convenient words, I'm not going to call an LX Hatch a coupe because it's a hatchback not a 2-door sedan. And I'm not gonna pronounce "coupe" with an "aye" on the end because I'm not a faggot. So LC/LJ 2-door => 'Coupe' and LX-UC 2-door => 'Hatch' work for me quite nicely

I always thought a coupe was a pillarless two door and a two door sedan was pillared.
Hi
There are such things as "pillarless coupes". By one definition, a couple has a different silhouette to its 4 door relative. eg the LC/LJ 2 door has the same silhouette as the 4 door therefore it is still a sedan, but in the case of the LH/LX?UC hatch, the silhouette is different therefore it's a coupe. Its the same with the Monaros. This would seem to be the definition adopted by GMH.

Eg, I spent all day scrapping my bonnet....
Why?
It looks fine to me, I don't know why you're throwing it out. But if you are, why does it take all day to put it in a skip?
