There ya go, about 5 of the first 20 images are of my pipes lol

Hmmm winged sump could be an issue, these are pretty tight through there. But might be doable

I've got a set of Pacemaker PH5027 pipes here I think (haven't been in the parts container for a while) if you would like them. They were out of an LJ and have had a collector added to run a single 3".

I wish my LC would progress every time I looked at it.....it usually involves some effort to change anything though.

Ah yeah by that i mean every time i look at it as in work on it.

HZ is a for sale project, hence no thread.  picked it up for a steal and just tweaking it to try to get a bit of a return on my investment. UC is also for sale, as i have no use for it anymore, whas gonna be my motorkhana/khanacross car then Mindi came into my life and #@$^%& that idea. Just need to finish getting it running and roadworthyable, same as the HZ really.

Cheers.

Also the extractors are a little on the small side, and only running a 2 1/2" exhaust, which is borderlien to small for this combo as well.

I'm just curious, what size exhaust do you think would be ideal?

I've got a very similar set-up to yours, 266/266 duration cam, webers etc but am also running 2 1/2" exhaust... interested to hear what I should run.

Regards

Street use the 2 1/2 is probably the go.

I recon 3 would help a bit at the track, but need to do some back to back tests otherwise thats just guesswork.

Cheers.

What are you getting Kevin to do to the closed chambered head Mate.

So bit of a wordy wordy update, again.

Kev sent me this pick this arv, my new head is progressing.

He says he's done on the grinder, just needs some work with the flapper then off to the machine shop and the flow bench.

LJcylinderhead_zps3dca98bd.jpg

So as i said, my new head is progressing.

After a bit of discussion we made a few decisions.

I degreed the cam i have properly a little while back, and have been sitting on the exact figures for a while, but they seemed very lazy to me. Lots of seat to seat duration for the .050" duration and not a lot of lift, really.

What i came up with was 310 degrees seat to seat, 259 @ .050", and .365" lift at the lobe.

So realistically a very lazy profile in anyones terms.

So it has been decided this car will be getting a new cam while were going. On the plus side, will have a lot less seat to seat duration, so be a lot more streetable, and on the plus side will have even more .050" duration, which is always good, and on the plus side will have more lift, which wont hurt.

So in short more streetable cam with more area under the curve = more go fast and easyer to live with.

Looking at comp grind 6333 for the intake, exhaust is undecided at this point, will wait to see what the port flows on the bench and get Kevs recommendation.

While we were throwing money around, I decided to look on the precision website again, as i was never happy with how my old slugs were machined, and discovered they now stock flat tops with a 1.658" compression height, so the same as the old ACL race series slugs which my block is machined for.

PReviously they only had 1.68" comp height pistons, which would have put new pistons to far out of my block, but now that these are on the market, it looks like i'll get some flat tops as well.

Sadly there only available with the thick 5/64" rings, but im betting a 1/64" difference in the rings wont be as much as an extra point and a bit compression, and way better squish pattern.

Not sure if anyones tried the thick ringed pistons at higher RPM yet, so i suppose once i get this thing together we will see how 5/64" rings like 7500 or so rpm haha.

Cheers.

Great write up there DJ,

Just to say that the standard 202 rings that I have revved to 7500 rpm, gear after gear every day Hyundai, do well,

so in saying that, thinner rings will bed in more ( better Compression ), and wear out the bore quicker ( the motor will need a rebuild by then anyway )

- all that was a thought about physics.

No reason you can't take a slice off the top of the taller slugs, I know it adds to the cost, but it's an option

Yeah mate was looking at that to.

Need to look a bit closer, but i think the only thin ringed flat tops they have atm are 1.71" forgies, would prefer to stick with a cast piston, and I think taking that much off might be pushing the luck a bit....

Havnt typed the card numbers in yet, still looking.

Cheers.

Should be right. Chances are we will get a shit tonne of rain and barely any wind. Where i am has not flooded in the last 100 years that i know of, and we have a nice mountain range between here and the coast that generally catches cyclones.

Bit worried about the old man though, he lives on the coast right in the path of the frOcker in a caravan with a giant big coolite panel awning off the side......told him to come stay here for the next few days, stubborn old prick refused.

Oh well.

Cheers.

Well that's good news for you DJ, glad to hear it.

Maybe wait till he's asleep and go drag the van back to your place.

He either won't notice or will think the cyclone's got him.

Hope your Dad's alright too mate.

Old boys can be pretty stubborn at times.
