cicii, its looks killa, keep at him !!

I should have some more pics in a few weeks just waiting to have the body soda blasted so we know whats hidden behind the old paint. We will cut the rear wheel arches and move the back about 25 to 30mm so we can sit its bum down over the tyre with plenty of room.

Hey Paul,

Interested to know more info on the mini-tubs. Are they just taken in as far as the chassis rails? and who did the fabrication for for them, was that something you did?

How did you size up the width of the diff?

Cheers
Mark

My tubs go directly above the chassis rails. If you trim the chassis lip you'll pick up about 10mm more width. Measured up to be 13.5 inches from rail to guard.
What's the go with making the rear wheel arches longer? Just curious.

This is usually done allow a larger diameter tyre to fit as they hit the front of the arch.

Well after 4 weeks of the car being at the panel shop i got a phone call last Tuesday to say he cant do it as he hasnt got the time so Thursday i jumped in the car and drove the 3 hours to where it was and picked it up. Unhappy and disappointed are probably understatements considering i had even paid him some $$ upfront. S*#t happens i guess so today i've finalised to get it done elsewhere and they are starting next Monday. Pretty happy with the dudes i've got doing it but i'm tired of the delays !!

Mark your right the tubs are flat with the chassis rail, Lance at Walker Chassis here in Adelaide did the work (google his name for his website) he has been in the game for years and i am very happy with the job and the price. For the diff width Rod Tech here in Adelaide have an adjustable bar that you bolt up to your wheels and place under your guards. Once you get the spacing you want you can secure the bar with a locking nut so it doesn't move and take it into them and they will cut your diff to suit. Piece of cake!

FYI i have plenty of room inwards, probably could have gone in more with the diff width, as it sits now i am 15mm under original track width.

Shannon Warren is right, i am taking about 20mm from the front of the arch near the sill panel to make more room for a larger tyre (slicks) just in case! I am also moving the rear of the wheel arch back 50mm, if you look at the picture above of the rear wheel arch you will notice that the lower you go down the back of the arch the further the tyre sticks out. This prevents me from lowering the back of the car as much as i want to because the arch hits the wheel so if i move the arch back i will have more room tp lower it and again it will allow a bigger tyre (slick).

What size slick you going? I think the boys here that race theirs said a 26 fits but not a 28, dunno what that means but I'm guessing more side wall.

This a 26" tyre that has had the front of the arch trimmed to fit, otherwise you can only fit a 24" slick.

Blown away how quickly this is coming together. I have decided to go coil overs too now.
