Had to pull the radiator/water pump out for that fix!! Better not snap this 12.9 tensile allen key bolt or i will flip!!

Anyway, not much is going on since the weather change. Alternator was a bit angled so im slotting to lower bracket (which was also cracked in two) to compensate.

Ill ask this again too. Anyone know what this clunking noise is everytime i back off the throttle. Only happens at higher speed/revs.

Can you narrow down the area the noise is coming from?

Could be clutch linkages.

Trailing arm bushes.

Gearbox mount.

Engine mount.

An extra long bolt somewhere it shouldnt be.

Flywheel bolts.

Bit hard to tell from video though.

Im trying to narrow it down, but from what i can  hear sounds like its close to the trans tunnel so im thinking its gearbox related. Maybe linkages? What would be clunking?

My shifter hits my tunnel when its idling and when in reverse gets worse.

Haha that too but i was wondering what part of the shifter linkages can clunk...

I didn't think of the shifter maybe it's hitting when i back off and hit the throttle.

Also i've noticed lately that it clacks on startup like the lifters have to bleed up. Why is it doing this it never used to? It's a bit embarrassing when you give it a bit of a rev to start and it sounds like its going to blow up.

Maybe related to all the smoke coming from the rear tyres once it is warmed up...

Uni joints are a very common cause of clunking on acell/decelleration - if it sounds like it's coming from trans tunnel, I would check the front uni first.

Uni sounds plausible ill have a look. How would the uni me making noise?

Mine were making noises once, wasn't really sure where it was coming from. Front one broke getting onto the freeway! SHAT myself big time and caused some big damage. Worth getting a mechanic to check if you are unsure

What about that 3/4 gear selector lever on the side of the g/box, you were having dramas getting it to clear the tranny tunnel. Could it be hitting when you punch the throttle?

Could be a Uni joint, but usually you will get vibration when they get worn.

And usually found you get a clunk on initial take off when they are worn.

But there are always exceptions.

I dont think so, i think the first time i fitted them they fouled, since i used the non plastic adjuster (which is very tall) they dont look like they would hit. But ill have a look.

Though only does it at high speeds. Would it be worn needles inside the uni that cause the play which makes noise?

That doesnt sound like fun, did it drop the tailshaft?

Yep it dropped the tail shaft, smashed the housing of the auto and changed the shape of my tunnel. It was far from pretty. Leaked oil everywhere making a huge mess too (including the mess in my pants with the noise it makes!)

Soo, guess who had to get another road worth because their reg expired and was subsequently cancelled, lol whoops.

But anyway all done now. Locknut came loose on one of the rockers and stuffed me up on a trip this morning. Got a replacement as well as some regular 3/8 unf nuts to go on top. Managed to change the faulty door rubber, re mount the side mirror and syphon 1/2 a litre of oil out of the sump. So all going good-ish except for two things.

Firstly, my M/C is weeping and it looks like it has melted some of the engine bay paint, fantastic!! What can i do about this for now? Quick fix-ish type until i rebuild it. What seal is weaping exactly? Its from the back.

Also noticed this, ideas?
