Do you use a water overflow bottle Andy? If so will it work as a scavenge as well?
I will see if auo barn or bursons has the radiator cap.

My car is still not finished so it hasn't been driven on the road.

The VZ radiator cap will not fit a radiator that takes a HQ style radiator cap.

A 16 psi radiator cap should be close enough to do the job.

I am considering running Evan Waterless lifetime coolant which does not expand when it gets hot so there is no need for an overflow recovery system.

There is a similar product made in Australia by Liquid Intelligence.

Jeff that makes it low 30 C, I like the idea of cruising in that temp and having no problems. At the moment around my place is around the 68 F mark. I'm looking forward to the warmer weather.

Thanks gain to all

It's pretty warm out today.. I bought a boat this morning and it was 101 degrees (38c) at 11am when I was heading home with it.  Luckily I am closer to the coast from where it was, so only hit high 90's here, ha ha..

Oh, and between the temps here and the insane traffic nearly all over, I have tried to do the cooling system so as to not keep staring at the gauge on a hot day sitting in bumper to bumper traffic.  Knock on wood no problems. :)

(aside from having a 6 speed in traffic, but that is why my daily driver truck is a 6 speed auto, ha ha)

I like the idea, but if you head to a track, quarter mile or flat trak, how will you pass scruteneering? Overflow bottles are a must for them aren't they?
Also thanks for the heads up on the VZ cap, on the web site it looks and reads like it would fit.

Jeff, enjoy the boat. Sounds like your toy shed is as full as mine! Where do you keep them, from the photos of the front of your place the garage doesn't look like it can house two cars, a harley, a daily driver truck and a boat?

The boat is not for me... I am loading a container on Monday and Tuesday, and it is bound for there....just something to move on since there was some room in the container. (the harley is there for sale now...not here)

And I can squeeze 2 cars in the garage, and 6 cars will fit on the driveway...have done it before, lol.  Normally it's just my truck though. :)

If required by scrutineering I would just connect a temporary overflow system.

Is that yours? I have a soft spot for Hot Rods. My brother has a 29 high boy/roadster type rod. And of corse, completely home built. Will be in the next issue of Aussie Rodders.

I will get some now. I have been using the iPad while not at work and it doesn't allow metro pst photos.

I just watched both of those you tube videos. That product is unbelievable. I didn't know such a product was available. Once I finish stuffing around with the car, I will definitely be looking into it further. Thanks Andy!!!

Jeff will you be here for that too?

Well congrats on the build Grant ! Very nice !!

I have just 'read' this thread from the start and have a few questions (and a couple of digs lol)

Is the engine an LS2 or one of the AFM Commodore variants? L77 or something?

Flares may slow us down but your non flared = cheese cutters will slow you in the corners hahaha !!! :P

With all the dramas with the engine build and installation, wouldn't you have been better off with say a Holden engine to 355? I guess we can't predict the dramas :)

I agree with jeff, Billet wheels look the stuff.

You are doing a great job ! Awesome to see another Torry restored :)

Thanks LH8VD69 for the kind (sorta kind ;) words)
I thought the LS2 came in many variants being L77 L98 and so on. It is actually an AFM engine from a 2009 Commodore.
As for the dramas in the build, they became frustrating at times but I would still do it again if I had my time over. A 355 would have cost me more, and I was going EFI on the Holden engine so the rest would have been the same.
Non flared will give me a width advantage too, it will allow me to dive under and round others with smaller gaps you flared wide body Toranas can't!!! :)
All in all I am happy with where I am so far, and have kept pretty close to my initial plan, all bar the dah. It was meant to be lenimg back and not flat.
It's clean, home built and will hold its own. It's not the straightest, not the fatest and doesn't have the best paint. But man do I grin big time every time I start it up.

Wheels, well in time I will change them too :)

Door card on. Just need the guts to screw through it to install armrest

Radiator neck relocated, and air intake. The pod will change to a K&N pod with an angled inlet, the ally tube shortened and will need a mount so it doesn't bounce or come off

I took the car out for another short drive today. Don't what happened or why, but I am only doing 1600rpm ant 100km. Either I haven't calibrated the speedo correctly or the calculators I have used were not a good calculation. Anyway here is in the sun on my driveway

I see you've got black rims on one side, silver rims on the other.

My vote is for black!!!

Looks tough. How did it go getting up to 100? Quick?

Thanks guys. I think I will redo the wheels properly for the time being. At some stage I will change them, but not a priority at the moment.

It accelerated reasonably quick, but not as hard as I expected. Admittingly I am not up for giving it a hard time just yet, and it is still to be tuned. I have been told not to give the diff a hard time for a few hundred Km's. don't know how true it is but I have been told that a tru trac needs to be ran in. Having said that my passenger was shitting himself as it broke loose and I was still gripless when I backed off at 100. It is ridiculous how easy it breaks traction even at speeds close to 70 - 80 Km's an hour. I am still yet to really open it up though, but I don't expect it to change that much once I do. It will deffinately be a whole lot of fun when complete and tuned

Hey where abouts did you get that hard 90deg bend off the throttle body? I was looking for one a little while ago for mine as I didn't have much room between the intake & the radiator & fans.

Cheers, Nig.

It,s looking very good

+1 more for black rims

Interested in what width diff and wheels you used, says 17" diameter. also springs you used to get that stance.

I'm also going commodore pattern and offsets.

thanks
