Summernats - it's on like Donkey Kong!

On Thursday a late afternoon drop in to get a weekend pass before the crowd, I was rewarded with the sounds of crazy motors heard well from the free park I use. I strolled in and the stinging in the eyes almost produced tears. I swear it was only the unburnt methanol and tyre smoke. OK, maybe a bit of excited happiness as well.
Lots of the usual suspects are here together with plenty of new stuff. I have seen a couple of glimpses of forum cars - feel free to PM or ring Grant (LS2 LXHATCH) and ask him about his burnout experience today....
Lots of torries, lots of other Holdens. Utes and tonners are thick on the ground. Lots of bizarro rarities and one off pieces of madness.

The burnouts were today's highlight. I call this shot "blowers in the mist".
They even had something for the LGBT community. A ford making pink smoke, who would have thought it.

It's dirty work getting close to the action.

Saw some of the dyno stuff, good opportunity to get out of the sun for a while. As usual it was a good reminder of how little horsepower some very quick and horny sounding cars have. One of the torries that did the recent street machine power tour went on the rollers. Has run a 9.8 quarter. 487hp at the tyres. Mind you, that would have won the first dyno comp at the Nats in the olden days.
Also great to get up close to lots of cars and see how many have little battle scars here and there. Makes me worry less about the imperfections I see in mine.
Given the number of blowers hanging out as well as those hidden under bonnets the economy is doing just fine.

Carolyn Tzortzas? Blue Hatch? The thing is a little monster.
I wouldnt mind seeing some pics of a HZ Premier wagon -DAD454. My old mans old car. Apparently sold to a bloke who likes burnouts. Just hope its not being destroyed.

Come and say hi to me in my Green LX with number plates YLX308 if anyone is around at the time. Been out there for two days now and am already stuffed. Bumped into Matty and Belinda from the Sydney Torana Club (silver LH SLR and Orchid metallic 4 door), and have seen a orange LX hatch with an LS1 so am guessing one of our forum mates, Ran the dyno today and had problems with temperature but that was to be expected. Will be parked with the CTC display tomorrow so come say hi!

I have been cruising around and have a lot fun doing so. I'm doing as much of everything that I can.
As for the burn out, just didn't have the tears spinning as fast as I should before I got moving.
Yesterday I was able to do the Non Burnout Entrant burnout. The car went really well and did it with ease. So, I thought I would enter to get a good photo. Before starting I had it in my head that if it starts to struggle I'm getting out. Really didn't want to break it. I couldn't stop or slow the car down once I got moving and was not comfortable through img it into a donut at the speed with no steering, so I backed off. Once I did spin it around I was looking towards the wall and again couldn't steer. So, I got out. Best thing for me. Looked like a bit of a dick, but oh well.
Looking forward to more fun tomorrow.
Text if you see me again, stop me and say hello.
Cheers and have fun in the sun
