SpeedCafe.com recently reviewed the telemovie.

http://www.speedcafe...rock-telemovie/

As has been publicised & mentioned here it is a shame; "Network Seven’s move to block the use of its race footage proved a major hurdle, leaving a sometimes bizarre mix of amateur and professional shots in the racing scenes."

Very keen to see it. Of course it won't be perfect, but hopefully still a good watch. Promising review from SpeedCafe.

Did anyone watch it?

Facebook indicated a lot of contempt towards it?

Hahaha, PB and others looked like they had never seen an LC torana in their lives let alone an XU1.

Harry Firth and the HDT helped develop the LC XU1 FFS.

Best bit was when he went to see Harry in 75 and the 24C and 28C were sitting in the workshop....umm.....wrong

And then when he went back in 78, there was a white LJ they were working on (same one that apparently got painted red earlier on) and not a square Torana in sight.

Plus they were working on the 73 Torana and it has SU's not Webber's, come on guys!

I still enjoyed it though.

No mention of either Beast though which was a bit disappointing, and apparently the only race each year is Bathurst.

Clearly said at the start that it is NOT A DOCUMENTARY.

You guys pissing & moaning about how this isn't correct, & that isn't correct must have missed that bit.

Yeah as expected there will be endless 'imperfections' to pick up should we wish too..... but overall, I actually enjoyed it (more than I thought I would).... but I think it's purely because of all the awesome Torana's on the screen. I am enjoying the story too, but it's just a shame it's so compacted up.

Imagine if we could piss off Neighbours or Home and Away from the ervening slot, and replace it with this - as a long term series - and then really get into the detail - now that would be awesome!

The correct bit was the referral of woman's car regarding the unveil of the LC :P

Another incorrect one was 74 car with lx head lights

Boring in my opinion.

Or at least a mini series. :)

Probably more engrossing if you had a Torana.  :sofa:

I think it was rather popular in my area. There was zero road traffic from 8:30  in my street. lol. Eerie!

Off James Brocks facebook:

"So, umm. I feel I must say something regarding the T.V. show I watched last night, I originally wasn't going to, but after speaking to a few people who contacted me today I felt the need.

To anyone who matters, was there and knows the facts, you undoubtedly feel as I do, that the show was possibly one of the worst bits of "D grade" trash that we have subject to in recent times. That being said I hope none of you take any of it to heart. It is a crying shame that a story that deserved to be told honestly and respectfully has been treated so poorly. Again for those that know the stories, they also know that there was no need for embellishment or distorting of the facts, they were some wild and crazy times and some of the funniest and wrongest stuff I have ever seen and heard about; which would have made for a killer show.

For those who don't know the reality just take it from the people who were around, this show was so far from the truth that you should take it as was hopefully intended, a bit of light entertainment at best, and at worst just the typical sort of disrespectful crap you see in the media in general these days.

I watched it, I laughed so hard at some points because of the terribleness, is that even a word? It should be. I thought there were some good actors in it, and I won't pan them, despite their individual talents even they were unable to make anything of what was a terrible script and terrible production.

Rant ends, you can now go about your business. ; )"

Cheers.
