looks good heath, good on ya for having a go.

Just wondering if you welded a brace to the rear of the boot panel so when you cut and weld a new section in it stays the same size? will the boot close properly and all line up?

cheers julian

Well torana that's an interesting question. As I breifly mentioned on the previous page, the rear end of my car is out of alignment. Today we lined the boot up with the panel at the bottom of the rear window perfectly, and actually stretched/bent the taillight panel a little bit, and although it's far from the correct way to do it, with that and a bit more mucking around, we will have the boot sitting quite nicely I predict (keeping in mind this is the first time I've done anything regarding serious bodywork on a car, so I'm far far from a genius and I might learn that the hard way :P).

Thanks for all the encouragement guys. Anyone feeling proud enough of me to lend me a welder? :spoton:

Good on you for having a crack Heath, but next time you use the grinder wear some decent gloves. When grinders bite they bite hard.

Rightio I'll do that in the future. I'm getting more safety conscious by the minute; a week ago I wouldn't be wearing glasses or earmuffs when grinding/cutting.

Anyway when I was over at Oldn's house before the Bendigo Swap (I think that's when it was) he was working on it, and it's in the same place LOL.

I don't feel like asking someone specifically, because I don't want to make people feel obliged or uncomfortable to say no (I have a habit of getting myself into situations where I am always making people feel obliged). And he is probably using his all the time as well, although I'm not sure about that either.

Ohh and yeah I wouldn't quite say he's MIA; I've been in contact with him regularly over the last month or two, I suppose he's just in his regular state of having too many forums to moderate hehe

Dad's been using an Angle Grinder for over 30 years and has never worn gloves while doing so. I've been using Grinders for about 5 years, and have never worn gloves.

Would you not have alot more control of the tool if you didnt have gloves on?

Unbelievable work Heath, well done for giving it a go. You've tackled a difficult job and learnt a lot from it I imagine. Take no notice of anyone who questions your work, it's easy to be an expert from behind a keyboard but you've actually gone and done it.
Again, Well done, I think its awesome to see you having a go and making a good job of it going by the photos.
