Few coats of a good epoxy on both sides of the paper then a polyurethane top coat and it should last just fine :tease:

Cheers.

he just got rid of most of the rivets....don't give him bad ideas again :)

Some Rivets for something for the bog to cling to.

Na thas dodgy. You have aluminium touching steel, you will get corrosion due to the contact of dissimilar metals. Dont do anything like that!!

Cheers.

Gday fellas, long time no see. Apologies for not being updating, I've had so much to organise for the Baby, and I've been working heaps.

Just a quick update for today with more to come this week.

Finished my A-Pillars, just have to grind a bit in the channel with a die grinder.

I also rewelded in a new panel into the wheel arch where my last repair didn't look good enough. I could have just left it and covered it in bog, but it kept niggling me seeing it how it was, so I just cut it out and put a new one in. No pictures for this however, I am stripping all the paint off the engine bay so I can give it a coat of some 2K etch.

Hey cheers Mick! Alot of trial and error... Luck and flukes as well. The A pillar base sections are relatively easy to make, I made a thread about it in Fabrication.

Cheers.

Hey boys Merry Xmas.

I have been busy lately and finally got stuck into a section I didn't think I could do... The radiator support section.

This is what I started with.

Cut off and welded in some filler basically till i can put the proper shape across, buts its hard without a guide, so it will do til the support panel is finished.

Posted Image

Measured up and drew up some plans.

Posted Image

Cut out some steel and put the measurements across to the steel.

Bent up into shape and in position for a trial fit...

Turns out it fitted up pretty well, a bit of minor tweaking was required but all in all worked out well. To be welded up properly this week.

Cheers Lee, I thought I'd put all the measurements up in case someone else wanted to use them for their own project. A Panbrake would make this alot easier. I just had the old clamp down to solid bit of steel and bash it into shape haha.

Minor update.

Getting a quote tomorrow for getting the shell blasted. (Was $1600 for everything, $100/litre of 2 pk Etch primer on top)
But I only want the shell blasted, the panels are easily stripped here at home so I will do them myself. Shell will be making a move in the next 3-4 weeks. Getting garnet blasted everywhere cept roof which is being Soda blasted to help prevent warpage.

Have also been fixing some rust holes in the hinge recess where it has rusted due to the A pillar rusting out and dripping water into the trap. Will post pictures tomorrow.

Oh I don't know. Not entirely sure on the price, probably a whole lot less, couldn't really hear too crash hot as my mobile reception wiithered away... Another point, frOck Optus.

Could have been an extra $100 on top to be completely primed?

Possibly. But on the other hand i wouldnt charge $100 to 2k etch an entire car, it would be a lot more.

2k etch shoudl be more like $50 a litre.

Cheers.

Meh I will find out tomorrow. Will be good to get the whole thing in Etch though... I dug away at the rear arches... Bog everywhere... Oh and rivets too. Get that gone.

Cheers DJ.

Minor Update.

Got my quote from blasters. $240/hr flat rate. Done deal.

Finished off my front Rad Support and Apron. Didn't get pictures though... (Doh!) Next time.

As per DJ's instructions, began attacking the bog filled areas in the Rear 1/4's to save $$$ at blasters.... Only got a chance to strip one off... The reason being...

Posted Image
Posted Image
Posted Image

That centre where the structural pillar runs down to the arch has actually rusted away and I took the photos before removing the bog. Found plenty of rivets too.

Heres the Bog removed about 50% completed.

Posted Image

Other 1/4 / Arch tomorrow.

Some of those pieces by the way were almost 40 mm thick.
