First generation VN Commodores and EA Foulcans. Both horrible cars clearly rushed to showrooms.

VN I - seals optional, EA I - would you like sand with your coolant...........

Lada Niva, NIKI......

Dunno how the P76 could make a worst list....other than the reliability it met every criteria it was designed to achieve and was a match for all its contemporaries, that's why it got car of the year. The first camira got car of the year cause the price was good for what you got AND it was meant t be the first world-car........

Nope. Didn't happen. It was one of those myths that sprung up. (Very much like all the LJ V8 Toranas that Holden built). Straight from John Ellis, who was taken from the Chrysler race team and sent to try and make the thing work in Australia.

VB Commodore in the context of 1978 was an absolutely awesome car.

I vote for the Suzuki Mighty Boy; what a POS.

Sorry another Torana in the list :(
LJ 4 cylinder (Vauxhall)
Oil leaks
Dropping bigends (Found that the one i had, had different size bearing journals, made it almost impossible to get bearings, engine builder found a correct size set in Hobart of all places).
Gear shift pulling out of box (Plastic nut) & the shift tube coming lose as well.
Recessed clutch that nobody knew what the factory depth was? (found out late that it was 1/2" from an old guy) made a brand new clutch slip, which was the problem with the old clutch, some mobs just machine the clutch surface not take the same from the top to keep the spec, so the recess just gets deeper.
Tailshaft has a spacer at the diff end between the flanges, lost it towing the car without the tailshaft in, how thick is it? nobody knows, took an educated guess and seemed to be OK?
Got rid of it before anything else went wrong, only car i was ever happy to see disappearing down the road.

By a considerable margin - the FSM niki.
650 cc of unreliable crud which I had the misfortune of being transported in occasionally by a friend. Bought new because that would mean no problems according to her father! Perhaps the retail price of half the next cheapest new car on the market should have been a clue...

"be still my bleeding heart" I am wounded, my beloved niki 650 I owned for 15 years and was towed twice(generator and coil), 200k kms daily driver. It did breakdown a lot more times but I fixed them all and continued on my way. Loved that car, take it anywhere and you would find a parking space, did not have to worry about spilt food or drink, hammer it in all gears and still not break the speed limit.

best thing about the niki 200,000 k's at 5 litres per 100 kms.
Best thing about driving the niki all week was getting into my Group 3 on the weekend.

A "worst car" is any car with a knob end driver who has no idea.

cheers

Ask me afew years ago and i would of said anything Kia or Hyundai but now that i have driven them (2004 Hyundai Accent and 2001 Kia Rio) they are great cars, the girlfriend had the accent, bought it brand new and i warned her against it... blah blah blah in the end we never had to lift the bonnet on it, it never ever broke down was comfortable on long trips and was great on fuel.

The Kia Rio is pretty much on par with the Accent, not 100% happy with it on the freeway though as it revs abit to hard for my liking but as a car and doing what it does well i cant fault either of them.

My list of bad cars would include the Holden Vectra, water pump runs off the timing belt, plastic coolant hoses, $400 radiator hose, rocker covers that dont seal and engine bay electrics that are extremely fragile not to mention the seats are horrible trims falls apart etc but they are good on fuel and drive quite well on the freeway.

Any VN-VT commodore that hasnt been looked after, some run like absolute shit.

Early 90's magnas / smoke machines.

A car that was built and designed in Australia, the Hartnett. Designed by the same man (Laurence Harnett) with the vision of the 48-215, left Holden and produced a 2 cylinder 600cc engined family car thinking this is what the Australian public wanted.

And I don't think people understand the Aussie car bit, a Ford Taurus is not Australian in any way, also I'm pretty sure Rover 2000s were assembled in New Zealand.

Don't bag Sigmas.

I had one with a 2Lt Astron engine and that was great.

It was the 1.6 and 2.6 Saturn engines that were cr@p.

My vote goes to the EA falcon...

i unfortunately work at a ford dealership....if you seen the repair bills to keep them together you would understand.

we have a turbo territory that has had over 12k worth of repairs and its only done 190k. that's one of the worse ones.
on average every 30k there's something worn out in the suspension or sumthing. in the city's they may be better but there terrible around here

There not a bad car just not designed very well or there using poor quality parts.
I have a 04 ford territory with 190k and i travel on alot of unsealed roads and mine is holding together really well

Yes they have there faults like ball joints and bushes which i have done most of mine but I do all the repairs myself so my repair bills not too bad :)

Haaaaaaaaaaa
well Harry Firth named in the XU2 when they built the yellow LC XU-1 V8, its in the V8 XU-1 Story in A.M.C Mag issue 9, and Leo the designer guru says H used to call the V8 LJ the XU2,i think Harry assumed GMH would of as well, WE WILL NEVER KNOW CAUSE THE PROGRAM GOT CANCELLED

Yes, but the first line of the first post reads -"What are some of the worst cars built or imported to Australia??"

It is a bit confusing when the title reads worst Aussie Car, which I didn't see until later.
