Still going with the green (keep it at least in the same colour family from stock). I've always been partial to Barbados. Lina Mint and Julep is nice too.. Maybe a hybrid of a more green than yellow Barbados.. We will see.

Was going to ask you this the other day, Are you going to do black outs on it?. Any stencil work or pinstripes?

I vote for a dark candy green like this-

I was thinking more solid colour, you know, no metallics and that making it harder! :P

Oh and re: blackouts or pin striping. I would like the black around the windows and rear panel. I don't want to go black bonnet though (doesn't look quite right on a UC) but perhaps the stripe down the front quarters only? Not sure at the moment.
Cheers

I was in the process of picking a new colour for mine a few months back, check out Verde Ithica (PPG 0077)
Either that or good ol barbados was the wife's pick.

Hurry up and paint it already

Wow, Verde Ithica is an absolutely beautiful green!

Why would you go colour change though, I quite like the dark blue, it's pretty unique and tough. Is it a standard GMH colour? (i'm guessing no?)

Yeah that green is sick hey!
Only going a colour change because when we moved within 3 weeks the whole car broke out in humidity blisters, it's a bare metal job to fix it.....
So might aswell make a change, the current paint on there is Hyundai Cape Blue

Holy shit! That's crazy, wonder what the theory of that is, considering the car was fine for a long time in SA

Not really done much to the car, or the shed for that matter. I was hoping to get away with putting the new slab over the old, however because the old slab was about 3 / 4 different pours, with different thicknesses and the levels all over the shop, I couldn't successfully pour over the old. It'll mean that the new slab will be higher into the shed than I wouldve of liked. So I spent many a weekend removing it. Most of it came up alright, except for the slab that held the wood oven (350 mm thick around the edges, with 2x stacked reo in the middle at about 150 mm thick).

New slab should be done around the next couple of weeks when my family friend is ready.

Sitting on top of mezz. (Yes some of the boards are upside down.. oops!)

I did manage to finish initial body filling the front stone tray and bonnet, then primed.

High build primer has been bought, hoping to do some priming soon too while i wait for the concrete!!

Sometimes it feels like 2 steps forward, and one step back.

I put the engine bay into high build, then started to block the right side wheel arch. Of course, there are alot of high spots, and when I went to tap them down, some areas were weak and pretty much crumbled/ cracked. So I cut the problem area, re welded a nice strong plate. I should of done this first, but ah well, you live and learn. Times like these you wonder why you go through the trouble to customise things instead of keeping standard (engine bay in my case).

However, the repairs are looking much better, and using a lot less filler too once it's all sanded.

P6080002_zps3f24c2c3.jpg

P6080004_zps0020fcd3.jpg

On the other side, the weld cracked. I think I ground it down too far that there was pretty much no meat left to fuse the 2 sides together. Plus i'm pretty sure it lacked peno, so re welded. I noticed this once the primer was layed down, I saw this faint line. It's a pain but had to be done now!

P6090015_zps8371d15f.jpg

However, I did high fill some of the other panels, and it went on nicely.

Nah not colour buddy, just a light grey high build primer.

Colour will be some type of green, keep it close to its origins.

Having said that, I always wondered what the deal was. You can clearly see, the back half of the shell inside is blue, the front half (as shown by the inside of the door), is the original green including the floor pans etc. Interesting.

Thanks for the encouraging words guys

Havent updated in a while. Havent done much (anything) to the car. I got sick of being cramped in the garage so spent all my energy getting the shed ready.

Not gonna lie, haven't done anything else to the hatch. Been pretty flat out with the house and big projects that I want done before the end of the year.

However I have 2 weeks holidays booked in mid October and thats solely reserved for Torana. I'd imagine alot of sanding and priming!

Anyway, heres my side of house carport I built. Just need a roller door and its done. The old roller door you see sitting there was put together over 20 years ago. Doesnt work very well (made from junk). I will be ripping that down once the new one is attached to the carport.

Over 12 metres in length.

Close the shed door walkaway from it and spend time with your family. I have three toranas god knows why,  only because I love them. I think the same thing as you some times.Your Hatch build is awesome, use your build as a stress release. Like you said take your time and do it properly .Good luck man.
