Here are some pics of the tank fitted to the donor car, note, my new tank straps to suit..

The plan here is to paint the tank black, and have those straps chromed.

I spoke to Tim from Raptor superchargers today, its been delayed because of faulty materials being delivered from his suppliers. It should be completed by next Friday and posted the following week. This is needed to complete the alignment of the pulleys, sort out a belt and get the engine started. Then the loom can be sorted out.
Its nearly there, but not quite, the air con set up still has to be done, and I've asked to see if its a possibility to fit an intercooler for the supercharger as well.
Hopefully, that can be a goer! YEAH BABY!! :D

I forgot to mention, jet hot coat those headers, 2.5 inch exaust system with hi flo cat and sports exhaust with no drone.

All I have to sort out after that is done,

stall converter and shift kit for tranny

What diff to use

Rear disc brake and park brake set up

What front brake upgrade to use,

Custom Tail shaft

Suspension set up, to use drop spindles or not, new springs, shocks, sway bars etc,

To patch up holes in the engine bay or not,

rust cut out

panel beat

painted

windows retinted

what choice of front seats to use, re trim rear seats,

stereo and

wheels.

I think thats it, just re reading through the list of things to do, is quite depressing, and really expensive!

This project is gonna take forever!!

Are you planning to reinforce the hatch floor when you remove the spare wheel hump? I think the spare wheel hump has some structural qualities. The UC is reinforced in this area when you compare it with the LX. The wood panel on the LX has been replaced with a steel panel and a brace to the floor on the UC.

That's a very good point, I didn't think of that, I'll have to ask that question when I go shopping around for someone to do that job.
All I've been thinking about is putting in chassis connectors at the front.

ls2lxhatch, in that pic you got there, is that your car? Where does that battery box vent to if it sits inside the hatch? Does Perth road laws allow that?

No it is not my car, I have an LX hatch. It is not legal in Perth, I would not fit an battery venting into the boot regardless of the law as it will cause rust or possibly an explosion.

This is my battery box courtesy of Toranamat69. The spare wheel has been relocated on the RHS which means the esky will have to sit on the back seat.

^^ That's a really neat battery box, is that for the standard battery place in your engine bay? And whats the advantage of relocating your spare wheel bracket?

The batter box is in the position were it will be mounted in the hatch boot. With the battery in that position there is not enough room to fit the spare wheel in its standard position on the LHS of the hatch boot. My spare wheel is a Commodore 15" rim to clear the front brakes with a 195/65/15 tyre that just fits on the RHS of the boot.

The holes and vents on the battery box will be moved out of sight at the back of the box.

I think it's more because the spare wheel WILL sit below the wooden/chipboard/whatever the material is panel, but the battery may not unless it is put in the wheel well. Also it is best to keep the weight of the battery low...

Sorry mate, I didn't realise you were actually mounting that battery box there. Where will you vent the battery box to? Will you have to cut a hole somewhere to go outside the car? Sorry about all the questions, I'm interested in this option, although I'll have to find out if QLD allow this sort of thing.

Huh? Your not trying to contact the mothership again are you Heath?
Supercharged Alloytec, a few grams in weight of different batteries isn't going to make that much difference :spoton:

No I mean keep the battery low because it has weight. I'm not that trivial. What I said can easily be interpretted two ways...

I plan to use bulkhead fittings to go through the boot and vent near the diff.

Something like this.
http://www.mscn.com....sp?idproduct=78

Something like this for the battery cables.
http://store.summitr...2D74145&FROM=MG

The battery box is in the spare wheel recess to get the height clearance required.

This is Toranamat69's hatch with the battery box and the new Optima battery fitted. The Optima is fully sealed so a box is not really necessary however it is required in WA regardless of the battery used. I also prefer to have the battery terminals protected from accidental shorting.

With the recent flooding in Mackay, I honesltly thought my supercharger had floated away down some raging river. And to tell the truth, I was stressing about it. But Tim at Raptor assured me his business was one of the lucky few to have survived and it has been posted and should arrive by the end of the week. WHEW! :D

The supercharger arrived last Friday week, and I'm eagerly awaiting feedback, I mean, they've had the thing a whole week now! :furious:

The exhaust system is done, 2.5" system with cats and a megaflow muffler.
The darn thing needs 4 oxy senses and those little bastards weren't cheap!

I'm hoping to have some more pics later this week of the progress.

Nope, I won't have pics until after easter, but thats ok.

If all goes to plan, I'll have a CRS chassis kit and Jet Hot Sterling coated extractors, YEAH BABY!! :D

Here is a blast from the past, my brother scanned a photo that he found. This must have been taken shortly after my father picked up the car in West Melton Vic.
The actual location is down at Phillip Island.
Geez the old girl sure looked sexy back then!

Thanks mate :spoton:

The car when its finished should look exactly the same as that, except it will have 16" wheels, minus the fog lights at the front, and a retractable antenna. And maybe might get rid of that aunger shade piece on the rear window, but it really does do a good job. So I'm not to sure about that one for now.

I guess the car just wont look tough with that still on there.

A bit of an update, not much has been going on, except gathering those all important parts, such as, iridium spark plugs, moog upper and lower ball joints, an electric window kit, that one you see on ebay every now and then, and a pair of autoloc window switches ( thank you ls2lxhatch ). That will allow me to utilise the exsisting window regulator to use as a switch and as you said ls2lxhatch, it looks like a pretty tight fit, but I'm not stressed, I'll nut it out when I cross that bridge.

I bought myself a spare inlet manifold for the Alloytec and have been trying to polish that up, man, its such a rough cast and it isn't going to be perfect like those boys in the polishing thread, but I'll give it my best shot. So many nooks and crannies its taking ages!

The main point is, the wiring got started about 6 weeks ago, and unfortunately, the only thing preventing the engine from turning over is the Power Interface Module (PIM)
When I bought the engine back in July 05, all I asked for was the ECU and BCM. As it turns out, that little bugger allows the BCM to talk to the ECU and is uniquely coded to the ECU

The electrical genius working on the job is sorting it out, I have some options, either get the PIM he aquired off to Holden and get it matched to the ECU using some sort of scanning tool, or get another matching ECU and PIM.

After that is sorted it out, its match the senders to the Dakota Digital custom dash and the wiring will be complete.

The headers will come off the car and get the sterling hot coating from Jet Hot Coatings and then everything will be finally packaged up and sent to me.

Some of my aspirations are coming to a rapid hault due to a rapid depletion of funds. :<_<: The things moved to the back burner are the CRS chassis kit, intercooler set up, tranny upgrade, tail shaft and diff.

The next plan would be to strip the car, and trial fit the new engine just to make sure everything fits before sending the body off to get worked on. However, due to my current living arrangements, I wont be able to do that for some time.

Hence why its called the retirement project! :spoton:
